Custodians of the House of Mewar have been bestowed with the title of Dewans of Shri Eklingji by their guru Maharishi Harit Rashi. They served the State in the name of Shri Eklingji, the Supreme Ruler of Mewar. Prior to the Abolition of Princely Privileges in 1971, even though the Custodians were addressed as Rana, later Maharana, and with other exalted titles, they remained true to the principles of Custodianship.

Custodianship is the secret to the continuity and sustainability of the House of Mewar for over 1400 years.
